When anglers think of Alaska, halibut fishing tops the list—and for good reason. These powerful flatfish are found in the cold, nutrient-rich waters of Cook Inlet and the Gulf of Alaska, where J-N-H Alaska Adventures operates guided trips. Known for their incredible size and fight, halibut can weigh anywhere from 25 to over 100 pounds, offering both excitement and a rewarding catch. The ideal “eating size” ranges between 25 and 50 pounds, but landing a trophy halibut is an experience few forget. With seasoned captains and prime fishing grounds accessible by boat, J-N-H Alaska Adventures makes halibut fishing in Alaska an adventure worthy of every angler’s bucket list.

Rock Fish & Ling Cod – Hidden Treasures Beneath the Waves

Beneath the rugged Alaskan coastline live two of the state’s most colorful and challenging species—rock fish and ling cod. Rock fish, with their vibrant hues and distinctive markings, thrive in the rocky reefs near Homer, Seward, and Deep Creek. They’re plentiful, delicious, and a favorite among those looking to fill the freezer. Ling cod, on the other hand, are fierce predators that inhabit deep underwater structures and are known for their aggressive strikes and prehistoric appearance. These fish can grow to impressive lengths, testing your endurance and skill on every hookup. Whether you’re dropping bait from a charter or joining a fly out fishing trip, Alaska, targeting rock fish and ling cod promises heart-pounding action and unmatched variety.
